Why You Should Not Send Money through Mail

In today’s advanced times of internet technology and its various advantages, there are different ways to send money. However, some people still send small amounts of money in mail. Sending money in mail is quite unsafe as there is always the chance that it can be stolen or that it may get lost.

Incase you want to send small amount money in the mail, ensure that the mail is not heavy and do not mark anything which will attract anybody’s attention. You can put the money wrapped in paper in a postcard and then put it in the envelope. Write on the envelope "Contains family photographs". This will be enough to avoid any suspicions.

How to Send Money in the Mail Undetected

In spite of the risks involved if you still want to send a note to somebody as a gift or souvenir, here is how to do it without getting caught.

Things needed for the process will be:

  • Security envelope
  • Scotch tape
  • Any currency note
  • 2 photos or greeting card
  • Writing paper

Follow these steps:

  1. In writing or a stationery paper, write a letter to the recipient. These papers are thicker than the ordinary paper and are thus perfect for the job.
  2. Fold the paper money into half. In case you are going to send money in a greeting card, tape the bill inside the card. In case you will be using photos, tape the money firmly in between the two snaps. Taping the money prevents it from sliding and thus becoming visible to any curious employee who may try and steal it.
  3. After this wrap the photos or the card in the letter you have written for the recipient. This will further hide the money.
  4. Now put the letter in the envelope. Using a security envelope is advisable as these have patterned linings meant to protect personal information contained in the mail. Thus it completely shields the contents of the envelope.
  5. The last step is to check if the money is showing. This can be done by holding the envelope against the light. If you have followed all the steps carefully, the money won’t be noticed. Now you can post your letter confidently.

Though money can be sent in the mail, it is not the best way to do so. The only advantage of sending money in mail is that it does not cost anything. However, only small amounts can be sent. Also there is always the risk of it being stolen or being lost.

If you want to send large amount of money, it is recommended that you send it through a money order or cheque. Sending a money order through post office is very safe and sending cheques by registered post guarantees it reaches the recipient safely.

Money can be sent online also through companies such as Western Union. Why not use any of these methods and have peace of mind!
